The Garden of Hope
On Saturday, July 19, 2008, 14 community volunteers and I cleaned litter from the urban streets of Capitol Hill in Seattle, WA for two hours. The sunshine was glorious. The next day, the trash was sorted and the art work commenced with the help of visitors to the Imagine Capitol Hill event. Dozens of folks stopped to lend a hand and I talked to at least a hundred people about the piece. I later took the panels back to my studio and finished the work.
The street garbage was transformed into a vibrant garden.

Working on the piece at the event.
The finished piece on display at South Seattle Community College.
